109th Congress Is Gone!

   Finally! The Congress finally shut itself down yesterday at 5a.m. 12 years of GOP control has come to a halt 11 years to late.

   When the GOP met for the closing of this session you can almost hear them talking about all of the things that they couldn't do. WaPo has a story on that in this mornings paper for those of you who are interested,

    Let me see here. First off, the republicans failed to put the lid on government spending and to downsize it. In fact, spending grew and the government got much busier. They did not tame any deficit. It grew to the largest deficit in history! What did these monkeys in was their overwhelming lust for power and cash, plain and simple.

 House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) did have one or two accomplishments that he could tout. (?)

   He said, "Together, we reformed welfare. We cut taxes, and small businesses grew all over the nation. We promised to protect this nation from further attack, and by grace of God and with the leadership of President Bush, we have been successful."

    Those comments are always open for debate. They did cut taxes which did nothing for the working man/family in this country. We will not even get into Mr.Bush's leadership or the protection of our nation. the grace of God would have more to do with it than Bush does.
